The Concert
The concert in question is Britain's leading children's cancer charity, CLIC Sargent's
annual gala concert.
We are performing Brahms' German Requiem on March 20th, but require singers from all across this city to join us, swell our choir's
numbers, and make this
event truly breathtaking.
In joining us we promise:
- an orchestra with technical brilliance and a breathtaking musicality
(for a video of our last, sell-out performance visit www.theaco.co.uk/output.mp4 or to read more about the orchestra, have a look at our last newsletter: www.theaco.co.uk/decnewsletter.html)
- a wonderful event/venue that will be sold out
(last year's event was sold out very rapidly and ended in a standing ovation and thousands of pounds raised for CLIC. With that reputation, a far more extensive marketing scheme and a newly refurbished, larger venue, this concert promises to be even more special)
- as worthy a cause as could be:
CLIC Sargent manages to save the lives of two in every three children that have cancer.
That statistic does however leave one in every three that are not so lucky. Many of these children die, simply because
CLIC do not have the funds/personnel to reach them in time.
It is those children that this concert will raise money for, so every note we sing will help save lives.
(Below I have included our orchestra's mission statement)

Some more information on CLIC Sargent and the CSSO:
Every day 10 families are told that their child has cancer.
Diagnosis often comes as a shock. Treatment usually starts straightaway
and can last up to three years. As the children's cancer charity,
CLIC Sargent is there with clinical, practical and emotional support,
every step of the way.
The CLIC Sargent Symphony Orchestra was conceived with one aim in mind:
to support CLIC Sargent through emotionally inspired musical performance.
The orchestra represents today's generation caring for its' own
and gives emerging musical talent a chance to share ideas, inspiration
and above all a compassion for all the young people under the charity's care.
Musically, the group is a celebration of young and scintillating musical talent.
For audiences, this is a unique opportunity to listen to exceptional and international
young artists; showcasing not only the genius of the great repertoire and composers
they perform, but also the fresh, utterly committed style of playing that is the hallmark
of the ensemble's youth and virtuosity. Furthermore the performers themselves gain crucial
experience and the opportunity to develop an exciting orchestral sound for the 21st Century.
